From a parent in Hong Kong:

Dear Mrs Palmer,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am writing to share some wonderful feedback about (name withheld’s) progress in English, and to extend a special thank you to you. (Name withheld’s) exceptional writing skills and her remarkably rich vocabulary are truly standing out in class. The sophistication and clarity she demonstrates in her work are commendable, and I know that your unwavering support and engagement at home have been the cornerstone of this success. Thank you so much for your invaluable partnership—it truly makes a difference.

Dear Sherrie,

I hope this email finds you well! (name withheld) wanted to express her heartfelt thanks for all the wonderful English tutoring you’ve provided her with so far. She’s now settled at Wycombe Abbey and is working on her GCSE English, particularly focusing on reading and writing. She’s really keen to continue her lessons with you to keep building her skills.

Thank you so much for your incredible support and guidance throughout Dan’s 11+ preparation. I will keep you posted, and if we need English tutoring in the future, we will reach out to you first.

Just wanted to give you a quick update on Dan's 11+ results. He has received five offers including Reading School, Magdalen, RGS, Abingdon and Blue Coat.

It's a hard decision to choose which school he will go to. But we have to thank you again! He couldn't have made such great improvements in English, Creative Writing and interviews without your help.

Thanks a lot!

Good morning, Sherrie,

Kevin was admitted to all the day schools he applied for. Yesterday, we chose RGS for him. Thank you very much for your help.

Hi Sherrie,

I wanted to let you know that I got a 9 in Literature and an 8 in Language. I wanted to say thank you because I couldn’t have done it without you.

Just wanted to say, thank you very much for all your support to improve Arnav’s English and CW (Creative Writing). Your lessons exponentially helped him to ameliorate his skills and build his confidence. We definitely will be recommending you to anyone whom we may come across in need of an English teacher. Thank you again for your support.”

Hi Sherrie,

I just wanted to say thank you for all your help. You made the classes really fun, and I learnt a lot from you.

(From a pupil who won a place at Henrietta Barnett.)

Hello Ms. Palmer

Your lessons are awesome; thank you so much !!

Hi Sherrie,

Just wanted to say thanks for the support you gave (name withheld) with his English. I will definitely be recommending you if anyone I know needs an English teacher. Kind Regards.(Name withheld)

I am so proud of his writing. This is the first time he did it all by himself. I can see he is making progress. (It’s always lovely to receive a heartfelt email from a parent.)

Thank you so much for your help and guidance. (Name withheld) found this so useful. (Year 11 English Language GCSE revision sessions.)

Your contact details were highly recommended to us by a friend.

I can tell you, that prior to this website, I have never advertised my teaching, and I have been able to make a full-time living. I have relied entirely on recommendation. Phone calls always begin with, ‘I got your number from my friend…’

I can also let you know that, before I started offering lessons online, one student’s parents undertook an 80 mile round trip to my home, each week, for an hour’s lesson.Their confidence in me was repaid when their child won a place at their desired school.

I hope that you have found my website helpful. I created it as a means to introduce myself to parents who won’t necessarily find out about me by word of mouth - particularly if they don’t live in the UK. It’s also intended to be a resource for my students.

I look forward to teaching your child via the internet. Please contact me by phone, text or email to discuss your requirements. Text or phone is best.

Fees

Individual Lesson - £55 per hour - £75 per hour and a half.

Two sharing a lesson - £35 per hour per student

Three sharing a lesson - £30 per hour per student

Group lesson (Class sizes will vary - minimum 4 - usually a maximum of 6) - £25 per hour per student.

For perspective…

I just had a look at the fees a prominent tuition agency is charging. Good grief! You could pay well over £100 an hour for some of the tutors - and looking at their bio’s they have nowhere near my years of experience. I am still going to charge the same rate that I charged five years ago. Furthermore, due to the crazy cost of living at present, I am willing to offer fortnightly lessons to help ease the cost.
